At The Fit Collective, we a have a different approach to how we do things, we don't follow the standard and we pride ourselves on this. We hold some fundamental values pretty close to us and we will always continue to do so as we develop and grow over the many years to come. To give you a bit of an insight into how we do things here at TFC:
It starts with you
We keep our sessions small at 10 members per class and we run our sessions along a 12 week program designed to train strength, power, agility, flexibility and improve your cardiovascular capacity. Our sessions aren't programmed spur of the moment, they are programmed to fit in with our larger goals we revisit during our testing week every 12 weeks.
Every client joining our community will have a 30 minute consultation with one our trainers, covering everything from sleeping patterns to getting into the nitty gritty of your WHY. This is the most important part of your success, knowing why you are here because when the hype wears off this is what will keep you going. We like to know as much as possible about your health and we mean overall health because, it will ALL make a difference. Your enjoyment and success in training will be largely determined by what you do outside of the gym for the other 23 hours of your day.
Every 12 weeks we hold testing week. Testing week consists of 5 sessions that are set aside for purely 'testing', we test strength, agility, power, endurance through a range of different benchmarks. Testing week is designed so you can individually assess your progression and your goals. Coinciding with our testing week we organise for body composition scans - this has more to do with giving us an overall picture of your health rather than looking only at your body fat percentage and body weight in kilograms. We are all for aesthetic changes but 8- week bikini body challenges just aren't our thing, train well and eat well for your body and your aesthetics will reflect this.
We encourage every single one of our clients to keep benchmark records, note increases, decreases, plateaus. The reason behind this is that unless we keep records, how can we have a truly objective view of our progress ? We simply cannot, unless we can remember every single session we have completed in the last 12 weeks, exact reps and sets, weights used and how we felt on every given day. Testing allows us to track our progress, make adjustments to our programming and make sure what we deliver aligns with your goals.
We keep it simple
Our sessions are simple, effective, well rounded and backed by evidence. We don't simply throw in a heap of exercises and send you on your way for 45 minutes. During our Find Your Fight sessions (strength based) we will always include a major lift i.e. squat, deadlift, bench press etc then we move onto accessory work and depending on what where we are during our training cycle we may include some conditioning work. Our Sweat sessions are all about endurance, during this session we'll also work on multidirectional movements because it's the little things that prevent injury and lengthen your training life. Accelerate is all about metabolic conditioning - we get through each session as a group, we work together and finish together.
To sum up,
We understand that every person and every gym is different, some people will love what we do here and some people simply won't and we are ok with that because no matter what we will always hold values of: strong work ethic, integrity, resilience, honesty and commitment close to us in whatever we do.
We ask that all clients commit to consistency, this is very different from perfection but keeping consistent in maintaining a healthy training routine, food for the body and the mind and allowing yourself to just get on with it without beating yourself up about that pizza you ate yesterday (I mean we all love pizza right?!) will lead you to sustainable and positive goals.
